How a storm changed my life

I heard the thunder shouting

And the lightning screaming

I sat in my room with my hand to my ears

Wishing I would stop

I could feel the house shaking

All I keep saying in my head was “I’m gonna die, I’m gonna die”

“I never sore the Eifel tower; I never met my soul mate”

“But most importantly I never told the ones I love the most how much I loved them”

Then everything was still

In the morning I realised the true extent of the storm

As I watched the pictures pass by on the screen

Seeing the houses crumbled to ground

Nothing but rubble and disaster

Seeing the people homes and upset

Then realising one thing

“The things I had told myself last night”

“One of them people could have been me”

“Would never have been able to do all those things”

As soon as the thoughts cross my mind I pick up the phone and start dialling

After that day I will always remember this:

“Live life to the full because you never know what is going to happen next, you never know what is around the next corner”
